1206 (City of Lichfield) Squadron, based in Lichfield, Staffordshire, is a vibrant community of Air Cadets, uniformed staff, and civilian volunteers. The squadron operates under the motto "Laboris Gloria Ludi".

 

Leadership and Structure

 

Officer Commanding: Flight Lieutenant Chris Kelly leads the squadron.

Staff: A dedicated team of officers and instructors supports the cadets' development.

Civilian Committee: An independent board of governors oversees the squadron's activities.

 

Activities and Training

 

Cadets at 1206 Squadron engage in a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Flying and gliding

  • Shooting

  • Expeditions

  • Parachuting

  • Sports

  • Parading

  • Camping

 

The squadron also boasts a Corps of Drums, encouraging cadets to join and develop musical skills.

 

Parade Nights

 

The squadron parades on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm at their headquarters on Cherry Orchard, Lichfield, WS14 9AF.

Community Engagement

 

The squadron actively participates in community events, such as the Lichfield Greenhill Bower, contributing to local traditions and celebrations.

 

Joining 1206 Squadron

 

Young individuals aged 12 (and in Year 8) to 19 interested in aviation, adventure, and personal development are encouraged to join.
